God is so BIG

Our friend (and church elder), Chris Wise, is going to have his surgery next week!

In a matter of months, God allowed us to raise over $100,000!!! Then, the hospital worker on their case asked the hospital board to reduce their surgery fee. It hasn't been done in years, but they did it. As Cristy says, "God moves on the hearts of men." Which is what she is teaching in Sunday School right now. :) And God decided to show her how true His Word is!

We are so thankful. The amazing thing that strikes me tonight is this. That God didn't have to provide for this. He promises us a lot of things, but not "life, love, and the pursuit of everything we want before we die" the way we seem to think in America these days. He promises life after death in the Savior, he promises love unending and unconditional from Himself, and he promises the pursuit of happiness (if true happiness in Him), will be FULL of hardship and pain. It's a happiness we can't know otherwise, but trials will come with it. Thanks to the book of James in the New Testament we see that trials are for perfecting our faith. They are for teaching us and for proving that when we are weak, God is strong enough to make us strong in Him.

And so, our loving, merciful God is allowing Chris to have a surgery that might save his life. He didn't have to do it, but He chose to do it, and we are worshiping Him tonight for His graciousness to us and specifically to the Wise family.

Praise the Lord from Whom ALL blessings flow, including money and really smart heart doctors in Ohio!

The family leaves Wednesday, and the surgery will be Friday. Pray for them if you think of it!
